Langkawi Island
Langkawi is an archipelago of islands in the Andaman Sea - known as the Jewel of Kedah (Kedah state). The jewel, edged with gorgeous beaches for you to top up your tan and catch up on your reading with a cocktail in hand, has plenty of other activities if you are planning to stay a little longer before or after the wedding.
Here are a couple of ideas (plus see the map below):
Island Hopping - there are many different tour operators in Langkawi, easily google-able. As an archipelago, there are many different routes and options you can take for a sunny day out. The Westin can also sort this out for you if you're staying there.
The Langkawi Cable Car - for a panoramic views of Langkawi, cool breezes and a little tourist tat
Pantai Kok - if relaxing on the beach becomes a little too quiet, a small collection of restaurants and bars
Night Markets - great for wandering around, eating lots of local goodies and generally absorbing the local atmosphere. Note that the night markets move each night of the week
Langkawi Geopark - arm yourself with a bit of bug spray and head off to marvel at lush greenery whilst you paddle (kayak) around the mangroves
Canopy Adventure - running, jumping, climbing trees
3D Art Paradise - fun for all ages (based in recent experience!)
Mardi Agrotechology Park, Crocodile Farm, Bird Paradise and more...
Diving - we love to scuba dive at any opportunity. Unfortunately, we've been advised that the visibility is not great around Langkawi so can't give a first hand recommendation. The Pulau Payar Marine Park is supposed to be the best option..

We added a some extra items to the original copy of this map (that we've copied from one of the island's lovely hotels) - all of them are easily searchable online and waiting for your discovery!
